Maria Pali - Sports and Remedial Massage

Maria Pali

Maria originally trained in Japanese body work with the Shiatsu College in the 1990’s and later trained in several holistic therapies giving her a understanding of the importance of the need to treat the whole person in body, mind and spirit. But it was Marias first life changing marathon in 2010 that got her hooked on the idea of massage for pain and injury.
It was at that point that Maria trained as a Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist and then went on to complete the Certificate in Advanced Clinical Massage with the award winning Jing Institute, giving her many of the soft tissue skills she uses now.
A sports massage with Maria may incorporate contrast bathing in the form of hot and cold stones, myofascial release, cupping, shiatsu or acupressure as well as traditional sports massage techniques. Maria thinks outside the box and strives to deliver what works best for you.

One marathon was not enough to feed Marias desire to run. Since 2010 she has run over a 100 marathons and 25 ultra marathons. Maria runs locally with Brighton and Hove Athletic Club and is a full member of the 100 Marathon Club and Vegan Runners UK. Maria is registered with the Sports Therapy Organisation.

A little more about Maria

 

Sports: Marathons and Ultras 
Last time I was really scared: Wild swimming in a river in India and realising a baby crocodile was swimming right next to me. I could only wonder where mum was and despite being a dreadful swimmer, I probably set a new speed record in my attempt to get out of the water.
Strengths: Not giving up when the going gets tough
Weaknesses: Sticking to a training program
Most impressive location: Salar di Uyuni, Bolivia
Final meal: A huge plate of shepherds pie
Greatest self accomplishment: In 2014-15 I ran 52 marathons in 52 weeks and then a week later my 100th marathon overall.

Desert Island: PJ Harvey, Stories from the City or Nick Cave, Let Love In
Animal: A horse; During a shamanic ceremony I was told my spirit animal is a bay mare. I named her Tara and often call on her when I'm running and I need her power
